There are loads of lovely walks around Glencaple but one of our favourites is the Wardlaw Walk. A couple of miles south of the village, Wardlaw is the site of an ancient hill fort. Over 300 feet above sea-level is gives stunning views over the Solway – and beyond.
There’s a small car parking area as you turn into Caerlaverock Castle – from there turn back towards the road and head up the hill.
The path is clearly marked and there are other marked paths leading off it if you fancy a longer trek.
And when you reach the top.
What a view!
